A Chinese Tea Party?

A week ago America celebrated the anniversary of independence. It was events such as the Boston Massacre, the Stamp and Townshend Acts that led to the Boston Tea Party. The Sons of Liberty were refusing to give in to the Tea Act, so they went and dumped a product they enjoyed into Boston harbor.
It was our founding fathers who fought for a free nation, a nation where we were in control and could depend on ourselves. But here we are today, surviving on goods from many different countries, not just ourselves. Now I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the imports we receive from friends overseas or anything wrong with our friends, it's just a matter of knowing whether or not we can fully rely on ourselves alone. So many of the things we love to buy or things we need, come from outside our country. For example, many of the things we buy come from China. And people are beginning to question about just how much we depend on those outside goods. Could we Americans get by in life without the help of others? Maybe we're not under the same circumstances as the Sons of Liberty, but can we continue on if we have a Chinese Tea Party?
